Martha - Lyons Silk Scarf

Part of the LYONS by Leisl Collection, this scarf features a piece of hand embroidery by Martha Lyons. The piece was her own design and was completed using tapestry wool.

Through the gate and into another world. This scarf reproduces in breathtaking, photographic detail a masterwork of needlepoint embroidery: a fantastical walled garden scene of the most extraordinary colour and imagination. At the centre, a grand wrought iron gate flanked by two terracotta towers hung with pink flower medallions stands open, beckoning the viewer inward. To the left, a warm brick manor house peeks from behind dark cypress trees; to the right, a sweeping curved brick wall leads the eye into a luminous landscape of teal water, dark pencil cypresses, and golden autumn trees. The foreground is a kaleidoscope of the needlepoint maker's art at its most joyful, a serpentine path rendered in swirling patches of rainbow colour, coral, gold, and cream, winding between borders of acid green grass stitched in the most vivid, textured strokes imaginable. The sky above blooms in cream, powder blue, and soft grey. Framed in a deep rose pink border.
