Margaret - Lyons Silk Scarf

Part of the LYONS by Leisl Collection, this scarf features Bangor Castle and was completed using silk threads. Artwork completed by Margaret Peel (née Lyons).

Not printed. Embroidered. This scarf reproduces in exquisite, detail a masterwork of hand embroidery. A grand red-brick Georgian manor house glimpsed through the gnarled limbs of an ancient oak, its bark rendered in the most extraordinary stitchwork of silver-grey, sage, and warm brown. The whole scene unfolds a teal and cream sky stitched in long, impressionistic strokes, a hedgerow and garden fence picked out in golden ochre, a distant stand of winter trees in muted blue-green, and in the foreground, a tumble of autumn colour in burnt orange, russet, and gold. The watercolour softness of the palette and the visible texture of each stitch give this scarf an intimacy and warmth unlike anything else.
