This scarf is a richly layered work of art, a magnificent medieval Flemish tapestry forms the ground, a hunting scene of extraordinary intricacy in which a noble lady in gold brocade reads a letter amidst a forest of dark teal, populated with peacocks, herons, rabbits, and flowering shrubs, a turreted château glimpsed beyond a glassy moat. Over this tapestry, a creased white envelope and a large Norwegian postage stamp are layered with the casual confidence of a great collagist.
